New Delhi: Two people have been arrested for shooting Convoy Asaduddin Owaisa, MP and Head of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslim (AIMIM), while he returned to Delhi yesterday after campaigning at Meerut Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, they have said as long as they questioned that they were injured by the alleged Mr. Owaisa, “a statement against a certain religion”.
Mr. Owaisi last night tweeted visually showed two bullet holes in his white SUV. The third bullet was allegedly hitting a tire. MP said he was not hurt and left the area in another car.
One of the accused was Sachin, a noida resident who had a previous effort to kill the case against him. While he claimed that he held a law degree, the police verified. On his Facebook profile, Sachin said he was a member of the Hindu right-wing organization, the police said, added that they were investigating claims.
Another accusation is Shubham, a farmer from Saharanpur who has no criminal record.
According to the police, both of them had told them when questioning that they were upset with comments made by Mr. Owaisi and his brother and Mla Akbaruddin Owaisa. “The defendant said they were injured by his statement (Asaduddin Owaisa) against certain religions. They will be produced before the Court,” Director General of Police, Law and Additional Ordians, said Prashant Kumar, according to Ani’s news.
The police have restored the countrymade gun from those they just bought. The police are now looking for the people they buy from firearms.
The defendant will now be presented in court and the police will look for their prisoners.
Mr. Owaisi today provided the Cover of Security Category Z by the Central Reserve Police force (CRPF) after the government reviewed the threat level in the light of the attack last night.
