New Delhi: The center clears two vaccines today and one anti-virus drug to improve the war against Covid-19 pandemic. The latest two vaccines cleaned by India are Corbevax and Covovax. Molnupiravir anti-virus drugs can be used during emergencies.
Corbevax is the first “RBD Protein RBD” vaccine in India, Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted this morning. It was made by biological-based hyderabad-e companies.
“This is a hat-trick! Now the third vaccine was developed in India,” said Mrandaviya. The other two vaccines developed in India are Covaxin Bharat Biotech and Indian Serum Institute (SII) Covishield.
Nanoparticle vaccines, Covovax, will be produced by SII-based Pune.
Molnupiravir anti-virus drugs will be produced in India by 13 companies for limited use under an emergency situation to treat adult patients with Covid-19 and those who have the risk of disease development, the Minister of Health said.
With the latest agreement, a total of eight Covid-19 vaccines have received an emergency use authorization from Indian drug regulators – Covishield, Covaxin, Zycov-D, Sputnik V, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, Corbevax and Covovax.
DR reddy laboratories in Cipla consortium, Mylan, Torrent, Emcure, and Sun Pharma have presented their proposal for the approval of the Molnupiravir anti-virus drug for emergency situations.
Food administration and US drugs recently allowed Molnupiravir Merck to the treatment of Covid-19 cases which were light to moderate to adults at risk of severe illness. Before that in November, England provided conditional authorization to the Merck Coronavirus antiviral, the first pill that proved successfully treated Covid-19.
In clinical trials at high risk people during the beginning of the disease, Merck drugs were proven to reduce hospitalization and death of around 30 percent.
