Russian Live Update Russian-Ukraine: US President Joe Biden said Monday that India was an exception between the Allies of Washington with a response to “shaky” against Russian invasion to Ukraine. Biden praised the US LED alliance, including NATO, the European Union and Asian key partners, for the Front united against President Vladimir Putin.
This includes unprecedented sanctions that aim to paralyze Russian currencies, international trade and access to high-tech items.
However, unlike fellow quad group members – Australia, Japan and the United States – India continue to buy Russian oil and have refused to join Moscow’s voice at the United Nations.
Overcoming the meeting of US business leaders in Washington, Biden said there was a “United Front throughout NATO and in the Pacific.”
“Quad is, with the possibility of an Indian exception a little shaky on some of these, but Japan is very strong – so has Australia – in terms of dealing with Putin aggression.”
Biden said that Putin “relying can divide NATO” and instead, “NATO has never been stronger, united, in the whole history than today.”
Indian oil refiners reportedly continued to buy Russian oil discounts, even when the West tried to isolate Moscow.
An Indian government official said last week that the third largest crude consumer in the world depends on imports for almost 85 percent of his needs, with Russia supplying “marginal” less than one percent of one percent.
But “leap at oil prices after the Ukrainian conflict has now added to our challenges … India must continue to focus on competitive energy sources,” the official added.
New Delhi, who has historically have a close relationship with Moscow, called for violence in Ukraine but has stopped condemning Russian invasion, Abstain in three votes at the United Nations.
The Ukrainian government accused Russian forces to kidnap three Israelis in the southeastern city of Melitopol, which they have occupied.
“Today in Melweweropol, the Russian invaders kidnapped three Israeli citizens; Tatiana Kumok and his parents Vera Et Mikhail Kumok”, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said, in the comments posted on Facebook.
Mikhail Kumok is described as a “publisher” and company owner. The Ukrainian authorities also publish further details.
